Wavefront coding extends the depth of field in high numerical aperture brightfield, phase and interference contrast microscopy

Abstract

Microscope modes that traditionally modify the back aperture of the imaging objective (such as phase contrast) can now be modified with a custom wavefront coding element to increase the depth of field of the system.
