Abstract

We proposed to combine nonlinear material (LiNbO3) to metallic annular aperture arrays (AAA) for second harmonic generation (SHG). An optimal structure can be found thanks to the relations that link the geometrical parameters to the operating point namely the wavelength of the fundamental and SHG signals using the finite difference time domain (FDTD). A slow light phenomenon occurs the cut-off frequency of the guided mode and is at the origin of the SHG signal enhancement. The benefit of the AAA is confirmed through the comparison with cylindrical holes. Fabrication using e-beam and RIE is in progress in order to verify our theoretical results.
