Non-linear loss and WDM crosstalk in passive InP/InGaAsP waveguides with 1.3µm bandgap

Abstract

We show that passive InP-InGaAsP waveguides exhibit high non-linear loss due to the highly energetic carriers generated by two-photon absorption. We demonstrated severe crosstalk between wavelength channels, at power levels used in typical WDM systems.
