Abstract

This work reports second harmonic generation (SHG) and difference frequency generation (DFG) in nonlinear optical (NLO) polymer waveguides, operating at the optical communication band. We developed a new NLO polymer with relatively low material loss and poling-induced loss at the interacting wavelengths. Quasi-phase- matched wavelength conversions are demonstrated with a normalized SHG efficiency of 5.4 %W-1cm-2, and a DFG efficiency of - 50 dB at pump power level of 10 mW (0.775 μm).
