Abstract
Depth acquisition from a textureless thermographic compound-eye image is a challenge in realizing an ambient photonic sensor. To obtain a smooth but edge-preserved depth, we applied a locally adaptive support-weight approach for stereo cameras to the thermographic compound-eye camera. Joint bilateral filter is used as post-processing. We built a prototype thermographic compound-eye camera with 3×3 aspherical single lenses. Measured relative distance errors were between -14% and 3% for objects whose distances were 105 mm to 300 mm. Absolute distance errors, that can be caused by a systematic error in estimation, were 27% to 53%.
