Efficient Slowing of Atomic and Molecular Beams using Optical Bichromatic Forces

Abstract

The optical bichromatic force provides an efficient, simple, and compact means to decelerate atomic and molecular beams. We present new results for chirped deceleration of atomic helium, and describe progress on laser slowing of CaF.
