Evaluation of Induced Form-Birefringence and PMD in Dispersion-Compensating Hole-Assisted Fibers

Abstract

The birefringence and polarization-mode dispersion characteristics of dispersion-compensating hole-assisted fibers are analyzed numerically. It is revealed that distortion in air-holes leads to high birefringence and also shifts the dispersion by ±2% to its optimum value.
