Automated Performance Equalization in WDM Networks with inline Optical Add Drop Multiplexers

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a novel pre-emphasis technique that, knowing pre-FEC BER values, automatically optimizes the performance margins of WDM channels in a line with OADM’s. We successfully tested it using commercial equipment.
