Abstract

Light beam propagation in twisted nematic liquid crystal layer is analyzed theoretically. Reorientation nonlinearity induces self-focusing and moreover changes the direction of light beam propagation. It is worth to underline that creation of solitons and switching of their direction requires milliwats of light power.
