Pulse propagation and compression in nonlinear periodic structures with resonant saturable nonlinearities

Abstract

We develop a model to describe pulse propagation in nonlinear periodic structures consisting of resonant nonlinear materials with saturable absorption and refraction. We investigate the energy transmittance, reflectance and pulse compression.
