Photonic crystal fibers for nonlinear fiber optics

Abstract

Photonic crystal fibers are formed from two-dimensionally patterned glass, which can trap light in a single guided mode in a specially-designed core. Their unusual properties make them a rich source of nonlinear optical effects.
