Observation of Light Confinement by Defects in Optically-induced Photonic Lattices

Abstract

Both one- and two-dimensional optically-induced photonic lattices with single-site negative defects are realized experimentally, in which light confinement as defect modes is clearly demonstrated for the first time. Our experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.
