Engineerable waveguide arrays in a 7-core fiber via tapering

Abstract

We present a method to create coupled waveguide arrays via tapering 7-core germanosilicate fiber. Using an ultrashort pulse laser system the device is shown to exhibit nonlinear waveguide array physics, including nonlinear optical pulse chopping.
