Abstract

The FWM efficiency in multiwatt (> +30 dBm) C-band Er3+/Yb3+ amplifiers has been investigated. The non-linear Kerr parameter of the Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped fiber has been derived. Good agreement between experimental and theoretical FWM impairments is demonstrated for an 8 channels WDM system. Simulation results indicated the FWM crosstalk for 8, 16 and 32 wavelengths combs in dependence with total output power.
