Abstract

Recent investigations indicate that optical reflections from connectors may degrade the performance of high-bit-rate fiber-optic transmission systems inducing power penalities up to several decibels.1-3 These experiments, however, were often performed using bulk optics1,3 and also did not include effects due to the dispersion of an optical fiber.
