16-channel 40 Gb/s carrier-suppressed RZ ETDM/DWDM transmission over 720 km NDSF without polarisation channel interleaving

Abstract

We report experimental and simulation results on transmission and simultaneous dispersion- compensation of 16×40 Gb/s carrier-suppressed RZ ETDM signals with 0.4-bit/s/Hz spectral- efficiency over 6×120 km NDSF. Q-factors between 16.3 and 17.7 dB were achieved at 231-1 pattern length without FEC or polarisation interleaving.
