Soliton self-frequency shift in a short tapered air-silica microstructure fiber

Abstract

We report soliton self-frequency shift over the communications window from 1.3 μm to 1.65 μm in a tapered air-silica microstructure fiber as short as 15 cm. The frequency shift is intensity-dependent, enabling novel telecommunications applications.
