Abstract

All-optical 3R (reamplification, reshaping and retiming) regenerators are expected to enhance flexibility, scalability and cost-down in future all-optical photonic network. Major interests in the all-optical 3R regenerators are “in-line optical regeneration functions” employed in repeaters and/or network nodes to extend the transmission distance.
