Abstract

The impact of double-Rayleigh scattering noise in time-division-multiplexed counter-propagating Raman pumping schemes is theoretically and experimentally investigated. High pump modulation frequencies effectively reduce DRS noise enhancement which is induced, especially at low duty-cycles, by TDM-pumping.
