BER Improvement for RZ-DPSK Receivers Using Saturated Asymmetric Filtering

Abstract

We present a new enhanced receiver for noise degraded RZ-DPSK signals. A highly saturated SOA and a detuned filter are used. An error free detection for an 8×10–6 input BER is demonstrated.
