Liquid Crystal Phase Shifter on the SOH Platform with Ultra-Low Power Consumption

Abstract

A silicon phase shifter with Vπ L = 0.085 Vmm and nW-power consumption is demonstrated. The device exploits slot-waveguides filled with liquid crystals. A drive voltage of 5 V leads to a 35 π phase shift.
