Abstract
It is well known that silica imagefibers have many excellent features, e.g. low transmission loss, high radiation resistance, high-temperature resistance (1)(2). Therefore, image measurement systems with the silica imagefibers will be available for the use under severe environments. In this paper, the authors relate the characteristics of the imagefiber with high quality transmitted images and the fiberscope that is designed so as to be able to observe objects at very low temperatures, such as in liquid helium or liquid nitrogen.
