Non-Destructive Evaluation of Diamond Tool Materials for Optical Manufacturing Applications

Abstract

A simple, ultrasonic method for non-destructively testing commercial optical grinding tools is demonstrated, with results compared to a material database collected for diamond composite tool materials. The ultrasonic wave-speed strongly correlates with other properties.
