Refractive index deduced from light scattering measurements: Application to optical powders

Abstract

Inhomogeneous materials with rough surfaces do not reflect light at specular directions. Therefore angular light scattering must be analyzed in detail to extract complex refractive indices of optical powders and other micro-objects.
