Estimation for the maximum of electric field in multilayer high-reflectors

Abstract

We present theoretical estimation predicting that the maximum value of electric field inside a multilayer high-reflector cannot be reduced below the value specified by the refractive index of ambient medium and the highest layer refractive index. This estimation is valid for high-reflecting coating of an arbitrary type.
