Electro-optic modulation with a single quantum dot strongly coupled to a nanocavity

Abstract

The resonance of a quantum-dot strongly coupled to a photonic-crystal cavity is electrically controlled. This effect is employed to demonstrate an electro-optic modulator operating at 1fJ/bit control energy and speed of 150MHz.
