Analysis of 2D Photonic Bandgap Waveguides using a Simple Analytical Method

Abstract

An analytical approximate method, VOPT, is applied to a two-dimensional photonic bandgap waveguide and coupler to understand guiding mechanism and obtain reflection/transmission characteristics. Results show good agreement with FDTD results.
