Non-Contact Cooling Using Radiative Heat Transfer at Nanoscale Gaps

Abstract

We demonstrate cooling of a SiO2 membrane using near-field radiative heat transfer between the membrane and a SiO2 coated probe. Such a scheme can be used for non-contact cooling and precision measurement of near-field radiation.
