Pulse width depending group velocity on Erbium-doped fibers

Abstract

We report a change in the propagation regime (subluminal-superluminal) of light pulses in a pumped erbium doped fiber. We explain this behavior as a propagation effect. A pulse-width separator based on this effect is proposed.
