Abstract

Threshold-versus-intensity curves for Stiles’s π₄ mechanism, which was reported by Sigel and Brousseau [ J. Opt. Soc. Am. 72, 237– 246 ( 1982)] as rejecting shape invariance, may not do so. It is still plausible that π₄ shows both shape invariance and field additivity.
