Abstract

This paper presents a bend-bend coupler for an ultrasmall silicon-on-insulator based microring resonator to reduce the loss at the coupling region between the access waveguides and the microring. Furthermore, a large free-spectral range as well as an enhanced coupling coefficient is obtained. The multi-mode effect is also reduced.
