A Novel Compact QPSK/16QAM Modulator Based on Two Multimode Interference Couplers

Abstract

In this paper, a novel compact QPSK/16QAM modulator is proposed. The modulator is composed of two cascaded multimode interference (MMI) couplers. By modulating the four arms between the two MMI couplers, QPSK/16QAM signals are generated.
