Abstract

We report the synthesis of single-mode fibers made of chalcogenide glasses with low-loss in the 5-12 µm range. The resulting single mode fibers exhibited losses of ~6dB/m at 10.6 µm and 3-4 dB/m in the 6-10 µm range.
