Abstract
Through an improved understanding of the non linear processes involved in cw pumped supercontinuum sources, evidenced by the strong agreement between theoretical prediction and experimental realization, high power cw Yb-fibre lasers have been deployed with photonic crystal fibre in all-fibre configurations enabling short wavelength generation down to 600nm with spectral power densities in excess of 2mW/nm, while in the infra red over 100mW/nm has been demonstrated.
