Abstract

We investigate oscillations of holographic gratings under the influence of an external electric field. Propagating photorefractive waves are produced if we apply a resonant excitation. In our experiments we observe the resonance situation by detecting the first non-Bragg order diffracted from a thin grating in a Bi12TiO20 crystal. The dependence of the resonance frequency on the grating wave number yields the dispersion law of photorefractive waves.
