Abstract

Efficient conversion of the second harmonic of a phase conjugate Nd:YAG laser has been demonstrated uniformly into the first five rotational Raman lines of H2. Our approach utilized two hydrogen cells in tandem to broaden the wavelength distribution while still maintaining a high overall stimulated rotational Raman (SRRS) conversion efficiency. We demonstrated a uniform energy distribution of the 532 nanometer doubled output from a Nd:YAG laser into the following wavelengths 549, 567, 587, 608, and 630 nanometers. The time behavior of the depleted pump laser and the rotational Raman lines is also reported.
