Abstract

Highly efficient room-temperature operation of an Er:YAG laser end-pumped by a high-power cladding-pumped tunable Er,Yb fiber laser operating at 1532 nm is reported. Using a simple four-mirror folded-resonator configuration, we obtained > 60W of continuous-wave output at 1645nm for 82W of incident pump power. The corresponding slope efficiency was 80.7%.
