We report theoretical and experimental assessments of prototype broad-area curved-groove distributed Bragg reflector laser diodes (c-DBR) and demonstrate their single-frequency and self-focusing operation. These lasers will be suitable for applications requiring both spectrally/spatially enhanced beams.
