Terahertz-wave generation in periodic GaAs structures

Abstract

We demonstrate efficient generation of narrow-band THz-wave pulses near 2.1 THz frequency (wavelength 140 pm) - using periodic GaAs structures and quasi-phase-matched optical rectification mechanism; 110-fs, 1-μJ mid-IR pulses were used as a pump.
