Near-Field Scanning Optical Microscopy of Femtosecond Laser Written Waveguides

Abstract

We designed and built a near-field scanning optical microscope to investigate the properties of femtosecond laser written waveguides in erbium doped phosphate glass. Fine structure in the mode field is identified using this diagnostic technique.
