Degradation of Laser Performance in Yb-Doped Oxide Thin-Disk Lasers at High Inversion Densities

Abstract

Inversion dependent losses have been observed in Yb:Lu2O3and Yb:YAG thin-disk lasers leading to significant heating. A degradation of laser performance over time is found for Yb:Lu2O3. The different behaviour of the materials is discussed.
