Abstract

Ultrafast laser sources based on disk technology are industry proven tools for precision machining at high throughput. We review the state of the art of picosecond and femtosecond disk laser oscillators and amplified systems, providing average powers on the order of 150 W. Record pulse energies higher than 40 µJ at peak powers above 35 MW have been obtained directly from a mode-locked disk oscillator using an active multipass cell.
