Abstract
We demonstrate spectral broadening and pulse compression of a 200 W, 700 fs fiber chirped pulse amplification system operating at 1 MHz repetition rate. Propagation along a 1 m long hollow core fiber with 250 µm inner diameter that is filled with xenon and traversing a chirped mirror compressor leads to 81 fs pulses. The pulse energy after compression is 93 µJ resulting in 93 W of average and 0.75 GW of peak power. This is the highest average power ever reported for nonlinear compression experiments and holds great promise for high repetition rate high field experiments, such as HHG.
