Monte Carlo Modeling of Optoacoustic Signals from Large Veins: Implication for Noninvasive Monitoring of Cerebral Blood Oxygenation

Abstract

We calculated optoacoustic signals in cylindrical geometry using modified Monte Carlo code and demonstrated good correlation of the signal parameters with blood effective attenuation coefficient which varies with oxygenation across a wide spectral range.
