Abstract
We present a novel spectrally encoded fluorescence imaging system based on a wavelength swept laser. As our swept source central wavelength is 1310 nm, to validate our method, we imaged microfluidic systems filled with PbS quantum dots absorbing light around 1300 nm and emitting fluorescence at 1500 nm. This simple configuration allowed acquisition rates of up to 8,180 lines of 1152 pixels per second, resulting in a frame rate of 7Hz for 1152×1160 pixels images. This spectrally encoded setup could be easily miniaturized for endoscopy combining high resolution fluorescence and confocal reflectance imaging with unmatched acquisition speed.
