Terahertz-modulated photonics

Abstract

We review our work simulating the optical properties of quantum-well structures in the presence of strong terahertz-frequency electric fields. Coherent mixing between the optical and THz field results in strongly modified optical properties of the quantum well. The implications for possible device applications are discussed.
