Optimization of soft x-ray emission from Ar clusters irradiated by high-intensity ultra-short laser pulses

Abstract

Soft x-ray emission from laser irradiated Ar clusters was characterized and optimized. Record high efficiency was obtained by matching the laser pulse duration and cluster size to a resonance condition under balanced pump intensity and focal volume.
