Femtosecond Laser Fabricated Nanostructures in Silica Glass

Abstract

Femtosecond laser radiation focused near the bottom surface of a silica glass sample creates a sharp-tipped conical shaped modified structure. Selective chemical etching of this structure produces clean, circular sub-micron diameter holes.
