All-optical wavelength conversion based on periodic phase modulation in optical fibers

Abstract

We demonstrate, for the first time, a simple wavelength converter based on periodic phase modulation in optical fibers, that offers good efficiency, and format- and bit-rate-independence. Conversion to more than 20 channels was demonstrated.
