Spectral characteristics of gain and noise saturation in nonlinear InAs/InP quantum dash optical amplifiers

Abstract

Gain and noise saturation spectra of quantum-dash optical amplifiers were measured to be asymmetric due to the inhomogeneous gain and their quantum wire like nature. Direct measurement of the homogeneously broadened gain bandwidth yields 15nm.
